History of GUF — From NUGRIF to GUF
Our story began humbly in 1992 in the bomb shelter of Domus Academica in Helsinki, when a small group of Ghanaians founded the National Union of Ghanaians Resident in Finland (NUGRIF ry) — led by George Larbi, Wilberforce Essandor, Doris Ayim, and Emmanuel Ofosu.
In 1999, the name was changed to Ghana Union Finland (GUF ry) to reflect the organisation's growing vision and nationwide membership. Today, GUF continues to uphold the same spirit of unity, growth, and cultural pride that inspired its founders over 30 years ago.
